Miss South Africa Demi-LeighNel-Peters crowned Miss Universe 2017


Miss South Africa Demi-LeighNel-Peters‏ was crowned Miss Universe for 2017 at a glittery event held at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on Sunday.
Iris Mittenaere from France crowned her successor Demi-LeighNel-Peters‏ at the conclusion of the three-hour event. Nearly 100 women from across the globe travelled to compete for the opportunity of becoming the next Miss Universe.
Five-time Emmy Award winner Steve Harvey hosted the Miss Universe, marking the third time that the multi-talented personality will host the international competition.
Steve Harvey asked the last question: What quality in yourself are you proud of, and how will you apply that quality to your time as Miss Universe?
Demi-LeighNel-Peters, said, " As Miss Universe, you have to be confident in who you are as an individual and Miss Universe is a woman who has overcome many fears and by that, she is able to help other women overcome their fears. She is the woman nothing ever too much to ask for and that is exactly who I am."
Demi-LeighNel-Peters thanked South Africans for support and love throughout her Miss Universe journey. "I may be the new Miss Universe but I will always be your Miss South Africa - we did it!," she tweeted.

She is Business Management student

Demi-Leigh's motivation

Demi-Leigh's biggest motivation comes from her half-sister who has a disability, that lives in Potchefstroom with her stepmother and father. @DemiLeighNP

She trains women in self-defense
